Program components include: computer training; life skills instruction; math and reading readiness; college preparation; job skills training. Our center is fully equipped with assistive technology, including hands-free mice, adaptive headphones, zoom texts, and "BIG KEY" keyboards. | A.B.L.E. (Awareness by Learning Experience) - Raising awareness, for children, teens and adults, of the challenges and capacities of disabled persons.
|
| |
| This program was created to promote a greater understanding of the needs and challenges of disabled persons, and to demonstrate that individuals with disabilities, regardless of the nature or extent of the impairment, can live full and productive lives. A.B.L.E. is presented by Cheshire residents to elementary, middle and high schools, and to community and civic groups. Experiential activities, such as a “wheelchair obstacle course” are offered so that participants can process, for themselves, the challenges faced by disabled persons. Since its inception in 1988, this innovative program has been presented to hundreds of schools and community groups throughout New Jersey. |
