Cheshire Home's Mission

"Cheshire Home is a place of shelter physically, and of encouragement spiritually: a place in which the residents can acquire a sense of belonging and of ownership by contributing in any way within their capabilities to its functioning and development; a place to share with others, and from which to help others less fortunate; a place in which to gain confidence and develop independence and interests; a place of hopeful endeavor and not of passive disinterest."
T he Florham Park Cheshire Home opened in 1981 as a residential community for 35 non-geriatric physically disabled adults. Our mission is to enable independence and personal growth in a supportive, but flexible setting. We provide a full range of services and programs that encourage and allow our residents to lead the most active and productive lives possible. In addition to standard nursing home care, these services include an exceptional transportation system, specialized physical, occupational and recreational therapy, educational and vocational counseling and training and specialized nursing staff.
Cheshire Home is unique and our mission is to serve a younger population who will achieve a better quality of life with the help of our programs and services. Cheshire Home's ongoing commitment to our residents has resulted in a nationally recognized reputation. Our success and the success of our residents has been measured both by those who have left the home for more independent living and by the enhanced quality of life experienced by those who continue to call Cheshire home.

Cheshire Home is a licensed special-care facility for young, physically disabled adults with spinal cord injuries or neurological impairments, including cerebral palsy and spina biffida. Individuals are selected for admission to Cheshire Home based on their potential to benefit from our programs.
Cheshire Home offers mentally alert, physically disabled adults, skilled nursing care and supportive services, along with opportunities that foster independence. Cheshire Home provides transitional programs for those that can progress to more independent living. A staff of experienced, trained professionals provide programs and services tailored to meet each resident's needs.

Cheshire Home participates in Medicare, Medicaid, third party insurance programs and self pay.
