The Awareness-By-Learning-Experience
(A.B.L.E) Program is a disability awareness
program presented by Cheshire residents to area civic, school and community
groups.
|
The A.B.L.E. Program was created to promote a greater understanding of the
needs and challenges of disabled persons and to exhibit that individuals
with disabilities, regardless of the nature or extent of the impairment,
can live full and productive lives. Since its inception in 1988, the program
has been presented to hundreds of schools, scouting groups and businesses
throughout Northern New Jersey. |

|
The A.B.L.E. Program includes a video of Cheshire Home and its residents, simulation
activities representing specific disabilities, and a question-and- answer period.
The A.B.L.E. Program is presented on Mondays and Fridays.
The Awareness By Learning Experience program is facilitated by Cheshire
residents. A.B.L.E. volunteers share their unique experiences, interests, and
talents with participants.
